Toronto, ON: Actress Amber Heard made a statement last night at the Met Gala in New York wearing Canadian jewelry designer Dean Davidson. Known as fashion’s biggest night of the year, the popular and exclusive annual fundraiser is for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Styled by Karla Welch, Heard mismatched her earrings, wearing one Dean Davidson earring, called the Ipanema Earring. The hand-carved and hand-polished gemstone is Cranberry Quartz and perfectly matched her cardinal red gown by Carolina Herrera. The daring look, complete with an ornate gold headpiece, went well with this year’s event theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Davidson, who started his collection in 2007, said it’s a dream come true to see his jewelry on the famous Met Gala red carpet: “It’s an honor I can’t described to see my work on the stunning and talented Amber Heard last night at the Met Gala – an event I’ve followed passionately for years. It’s the most important night of the year when it comes to fashion so it’s a thrill to be a part of it all.”
Dean Davidson’s collection has become one of the favorite jewelry collections for high-profile personalities. Oprah, Sandra bullock, Jennifer Lopez, Selma Hayek, Janelle Monae and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau have all recently been spotted wearing Dean Davidson pieces for press tours and other important public events. Known as “demi-fine,” Davidson’s jewelry collection has also been seen on Oscar winner Allison Janney, Oscar nominee Laurie Metcalf, Sarah Silverman, Issa Rey, Chrissie Tiegen, Krysten Ritter, Carrie Underwood, Holly Hunter, Jenny Slate, Lea Michelle, Sarah Rafferty, Lake Bell, Laverne Cox and Christina Hendricks.
