Kapula Candles are hand poured and hand painted in a small village east of Cape Town, South Africa. Kapula is a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). Approximately 90% of the artisans are women, primarily single mothers that support not only their children, but often an extended family.
It can require the skills of up to 12 women to paint one candle! Think of the impact that each purchase in the States makes to the number of women and children in South Africa.
The candles are made from the highest quality fully refined wax, 100% cotton wicks and a very high quality non-toxic candle paint. The skill of candle painting has been passed down for generations and Kapula remains a family owned and operated company.
The candle designs are unique to Kapula and vary from holiday themes: Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Valentines Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July! In addition, there are designs to complement every decor from cottage to traditional and somewhere inbetween.
Kapula also has the unique ability to create custom designs that are perfect for corporate gifting, weddings and other special events or themed exhibits. Please be sure to stop by our booth to learn more about these opportunities.
