 Products

  • TIPICA Napkins | Living Threads Company
Living Threads Co. TIPICA napkins are handcrafted on traditional Mayan backstrap looms using 100% naturally dyed cotton. Beautiful Ikat stripes throughout these 18 x 18 inch napkins are inspired by ancient designs yet simplified for a modern home....

  • Handcrafted on the ancient, traditional Mayan backstrap loom in Guatemala, our TIPICA napkins are a beautiful addition to your handcrafted home.  The clean modern design is inspired by ancient traditional patterns using resist dye Ikat techniques. Colors are inspired and created by nature - artisans use local plants and spices such as Chilca.  Natural variation in the traditional Ikat and natural dye color make each napkin set unique and one-of-a-kind.

The design was created in collaboration with Living Threads Co. founder Amanda Zehner and partner artisan Amalia Tay.  Women of our partner coorperative weave each set on a backstrap loom in their own homes, allowing them the valuable flexibility needed to care for their families while earning a fair wage in a healthy and safe environment.

Purchase supports artisans from remote communities in Guatemala as well as the Living Threads Co. Microcredit and Training Program - empowering women entrepreneurs, preserving traditional art, and improving livelihoods around the globe.

  • DIPI Handcrafted Throw | Living Threads Co.
Our DIPI throw is mindfully handcrafted in Guatemala. It is dyed using local plants before being handwoven into narrow strips that are then delicately hand stitched together. The final piece is dip-dyed, creating a unique asymmetrical modern design....

  • Designed in collaboration with skilled artisans in rural Guatemala, the DIPI throw is created using 100% naturally dyed cotton.  Each throw is a unique functional piece of art; created by weaving two narrow strips of backstrap loom woven fabric, which are then hand-stitched together before the finished piece is dip-dyed creating a unique asymmetrical design. Available in grey, green, pink, and chartreuse dip-dye.  All are woven using traditional indigo ikat, inspired by the local environment and created directly from locally sourced plants and spices.  Social and environmental impacts are considered along each step of the creation process. Artisans directly benefit from each purchase you make, and women are provided income, access to microcredit, and training.
