Welcome to African Trade Beads Jewellery Collection, the world of modern African creations. Inspired by the history of centuries of bead trading in Africa, our collection of jewellery is made on our premises in  South Africa. Our beads come from throughout Africa and are all handmade.

  • African Trade Beads Jewellery Collection is proud to share its latest range of Nguni cow horn and brass earrings and bracelets. Each circle, teardrop, oval and bracelets are all hand-carved by artisans in Kwazulu-Natal. We work in collaboration with Tirang Creations to create beautiful 100% South African items by combining the unique features of hand-carved, sustainably harvested cow horn with brass and silver workmanship.

  • African Traditional Range honours the tradition of African beads traded throughout the continent over 500 years. Each jewellery item is individually made and no two items are the same. This range includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings. We also provide a selection of African exhibition materials and marketing collateral to help complement retail displays.

    The Gold of Africa range is inspired by the 16th century African Gold which was featured in the collection of the Gold of Africa Barbier-Mueller Museum....

African Trade Beads Jewellery Gold of Africa collection comes from Mali, Ethiopia, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Nigeria. Each piece is gold-plated and created in our Johannesburg workshop.

  • All African Gorgeous Gorgeous Range necklaces are unique and made with beads from throughout Africa, including Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Mauritania and Kenya. The necklaces are 50-52 cm or 20-21" long and come with a hand-written tag telling the names of individual beads.

  • The African Organic range is made of things of nature, including bone, stone, shells, driftwood from beaches and recycled glass mixed together with brass and silver. These are suitable for specialty shops, luxury resorts, high-end destination lodges and department stores. 

    Our latest range is proudly 100% South African and made up of sustainably sourced Nguni cow-horn hand-carved by artisans in Kwazulu-Natal and combined with silver or brass.

Beads are made up in 11 different African countries and include recycled glass, amber, brass, silver, cow bone, old coins, terracotta, wood and various other materials. These unique collectables are produced in our workshop in South Africa.
