Louisville, KY. (November 13, 2017) – Anchal Project, the award winning nonprofit social enterprise run by sisters Colleen and Maggie Clines, and CAUSEBOX, limited edition subscription box for socially conscious goods, are excited to announce a unique partnership to design the exclusive Winter 2017 box. Inspired by Anchal’s Naari Throw Quilt, the the winter box really digs into the idea of warmth for the season, with the two brands deciding to wrap the box itself in the Naari quilt design.

“What sets this artisan brand apart, and what we loved, is that the two sisters who run the company have a background in architecture,” says Matt Richardson, Co-founder of CAUSEBOX, “The end result of each product they design is unique. The stitching has a really refined artistic sensibility to it that holds true to the traditional techniques of the region, but infuses it with modernity that’s really compelling, it’s just beautiful.”

Different from other boxes designed for CAUSEBOX in the past, Maggie Clines, Anchal’s Creative Director, digitally scanned the fabric before placing it onto the box template. This technique allowed her to replicate the texture found in the quilted fabric and hand stitches.

“Partnering with CAUSEBOX gave us a special opportunity to show off the craftsmanship and beauty of our artisan’s work. The Naari Throw design was inspired by a photograph taken of one of our artisans. We abstracted the shapes and movements of the photo to create the quilt’s compositional pattern; the variant stitch patterns within reveal the artisan’s process and determination,” explains Maggie Clines. “We’re so honored to partner with a nationally recognized, like-minded brand, that is focused on promoting socially conscious goods and the artisans behind them.”

Having the details translated on the box was important to both brands, and allows the consumer to become intimate with each stitch and the artisan’s journey to empowerment.  “The Winter box design is the perfect combination of artisan story and impactful launch story, with an overall aesthetic vibe that we loved,” explains Hannah Swank, CAUSEBOX Brand Director. “It was kind of a no-brainer to partner with Anchal on the box.”

The contents of the winter box are still a secret, but we can tell you that Anchal will be offering a special discount code in each box purchased. First sneak peeks of the hand-curated products inside will start this week. The winter CAUSEBOX will ship the first week of December - just in time for holiday gifting. Quantities are limited and have sold out quickly the past 2 seasons. Each box contains $150+ of product for a quarterly subscription cost of only $49.95.

Anchal Project receives “Best in Market” award from NY NOW and Apartment Therapy

New York, NY (February 7, 2017) – Anchal Project was selected today as the recipient of NY NOW’s prestigious “Best in Market” award at the 2017 winter market . The Sari Throw was chosen by NY NOW in partnership with Apartment Therapy as the one extraordinary product that stood out among the ten category winners of the Best New Product Awards. More than 2,400 companies exhibiting at the winter market had the opportunity to apply for these awards.

“NY NOW is filled with incredible products, so it’s such an honor to have been selected amongst many deserving designers,” said Colleen Clines, Co-Founder and CEO, Anchal Project. “My sister Maggie and I dedicated a tremendous amount of time and creativity while designing each of our pieces and are thrilled to introduce our Sari Throw to consumers in 2017.”

Inspired by the strong women of Anchal’s artisan program, the Sari Throw revolutionizes traditional kantha quilting with contemporary geometric designs through aggregated stitch patterns. Hand-stitched from six layers of 100 percent certified organic cotton, the detailed stitched patterns and paneling create dynamic intersections of color and texture.

“This year was the strongest ever and the largest show I remember since starting to come in 2006,” said Maxwell Ryan, Founder of Apartment Therapy. “The category winners were all interesting and unique – but our absolute favorite was the quilted bedding collections from Anchal Project. Besides being a beautiful, fresh perspective on textiles, it was also for a good cause.”

The Sari Throw will be available for purchase, along with the rest of Anchal’s Spring ‘17 collection, this March on www.anchalproject.org.

ANCHAL’S SS18 COLLECTION EMPOWERS ARTISANS TO BECOME DESIGNERS

First-ever collection inspired by artisan’s original designs

Louisville, KY. (February 4, 2018) – Anchal will launch their Spring/Summer ‘18 collection at the NY NOW Winter Market. Expanding on the tremendous success of the award-winning Narrative Collection, the new Curve Series continues to push the boundaries of contemporary handcrafted goods by bringing the art of storytelling to everyday home goods & accessories. For the first time, Anchal’s artisans are flourishing into designers, translating their visual perspective into innovative designs.

The Curve Quilt originated through the lens of artisan Seema and a view of an ordinary rooftop in India. The results culminated in a bold modernist composition with layers of 100% organic cotton and activated by a radiating stitch pattern. The Curve Quilt and coordinating pillows bring Anchal’s mission full circle by encouraging the artisan’s creative confidence to express their personal identities through fabric, while creating unique works of art that tell the story of empowerment and change.

“Empowering our artisans with the tools to become the designers is something we’ve dreamed about since the beginning of Anchal,” says Anchal Project Co-founder and CEO Colleen Clines. “This release has been especially meaningful for our team, and is an incredible milestone for our artisans. Every piece is a reflection of the details and beauty of the artisans original artwork.. It’s been truly special to bring their visions to life.”

With backgrounds in landscape architecture and architecture, sisters Colleen and Maggie Clines lead the brand by placing design at the center of Anchal’s everyday practice. Their contemporary lifestyle brand is defined by sophisticated hand quilting and women’s empowerment, revolutionizing traditional kantha quilting techniques.

Ranging in price from $18-$356, Anchal's SS18 collection  will be available for purchase in March on anchalproject.org.
