FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nicolette Mayer, the acclaimed tabletop, textile & wallpaper brand, featured inspiring metallic grasscloth wall panels and new patterns of wallpapers for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach
Boca Raton, FL. - January 24th, 2019 - Nicolette Mayer, the acclaimed wallpaper and textile designer, seen this week in AD and Veranda, created grasscloth wall panels for the Rinfret, Ltd. design of the Entry and Living Room at the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach, opening January 26, 2019. Returning for a second year, this important design event is the Florida iteration of the esteemed Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City.
Nicolette Mayer’s Morrish glasscloth on metallic paper design titled Topkapi Garden was the inspiration for Cindy Rinfret’s entire design scheme of the Living Room and Entry, which is the first space that one enters when visiting the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. The Rinfret, Ltd. designed Living Room and Entry is grand in scale at 45’ long and with 27’ high ceilings — Nicolette Mayer Wallcoverings make the room feel authentic and remove the previous spec house aesthetic.
“Topkapi Palace, Iznik style pottery, and the beautiful carpets in Palaces old and new inspired this design which presents a re-imagination of the ideal Ottoman aesthetic, with a new kind of chic that is entirely unique” says Nicolette Mayer. Adds Cindy Rinfret, “This printed Morrish grasscloth inspired our color throughout the room and paired beautifully with the existing stone floors and arches. The space is so dramatic in scale, it needed a statement which was achieved with this gorgeous paper and the staggered Currey light fixtures.”
Nicolette Mayer Wallcoverings were cut and applied next to the beams and dark blue ceiling, making for a custom, show-stopping experience upon entering the Show House. Unlike many Living Rooms, this space feels collected and lived in and just begs to be the site of a fabulous party. The historical reference in the design of the Topkapi Garden wall panels adds to the authentic, collected feeling of the overall design scheme. Nicolette Mayer, the designer, expertly incorporated lush blue colors that are fresh and modern, blended with themes that date back hundreds of years.
Topkapi Garden includes sumptuous velvets and Belgian linens, with metallic grasscloth wallpapers and wall panels. The wall panels are uniquely designed to be cuttable at popular 9’, 10’ and 12’ wall heights, solving many typical issues designers have. Topkapi Garden is a pattern inspired by the Iznik tiled wall mural at the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. A garden of cypress trees, tall as minarets and underplanted with hyacinth bells, has been immortalized on tiles in an alcove in the harem, once the most private-and forbidden-part of the palace.
For the bar area of the room, Nicolette Mayer also created a new pattern, Ottoman Floral Classic, a modern take on classical Ottoman tulip patterns in palaces on the Bosphorus. Ottoman Floral and three other new patterns will be introduced into the Nicolette Mayer Collection as part of a Kips Bay capsule collection, after the opening of the Showhouse. Cindy Rinfret and Nicolette Mayer also collaborated for a Tree of Life Pattern and Double Tree of Life that becomes a Triptych Panel Art Piece on both sides of the main room. The panels and border are the Topkapi Garden Classic Panels, from the Nicolette Mayer Collection.
Rinfret, Ltd. is among 20 of the nation’s most talented interior designers selected to transform The Fountain House, a Mediterranean-style home situated along the Intracoastal Waterway in the highly desirable South of Southern neighborhood of West Palm Beach. The 10,000 square-foot home located at 6215 South Flagler Drive features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms with a grand staircase connecting two levels. Floor to ceiling windows and French doors flood the home with natural light and offer sprawling water, garden and pool views, while vaulted ceilings and traditional architecture highlight the homes grandeur.
Proceeds from the design event will benefit Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. Since 1973, the New York Show House has featured interior design trends from around the world, while raising critical funds for after-school programs.
