Due to an increase in demand and higher production needs for Lynn Garlick Retablos, the business has relocated to a new office / production facility located in Taos, New Mexico. The new 2400 square foot office is located at (1335 D Gusdorf RD, Taos New Mexico, 87571) and has several individual offices, space for the complete business inventory and a dedicated production area for making the retablos.

"This move has been a long time coming, but the business had outgrown our previous location," says Lynn Garlick, owner of the business. "Though initially disruptive, the move has proved to be very advantageous and healthy for the business. We are able to handle a higher volume of business with greater effeciency and quicker turnaround on both production and fulfilling orders.

Retablos:

Lynn Garlick Retablos creates and sells heart-felt paintings of saints, angels and blessings based on the Southwest historical folk art called 'retablos'. Lynn has brought to the folk art of Retablo making, all the skills and passions that she has learned through a lifetime of drawing, woodworking and painting.

Moved by the sacred art of the retablo paintings and the santeros (saint makers) who made them, she started creating them herself. Lynn handcarves and paints her original designs on the traditionally used ponderosa pine planks. Then she decoupages high quality prints of her originals onto pine boards, in an old school technique used for the Italian altar screens of medieval Europe.

This process has made her printed retablos affordable. All of her saints are ready to hang or rest about the house, in a pocket or on an altar. On the back of the retablos is the story of the saint's life. Many of them also have a prayer.

As Lynn became more involved in her research of the saints' lives, she saw how deeply many people responded to them. "I felt a responsibility to make the painting a prayer for healing, kindness and right thought." Additionally she says, "I feel so fortunate to do this art / business. The saints, angels and prayers have changed and blessed my life. My hope is that they touch and bless others as well."

Taos, New Mexico, November 22, 2017 - For immediate release

Lynn Garlick Retablos is pleased to announce it has recently added 4 more Saints to it's collection of 'Retablos' - southwestern folk art religious icons. The new additions, 'Black Madonna,' Venerable Bede,' 'San Uriel,' and 'St. Hildegard Von Bingen' add to the already large collection of work of over 120 items, and offer new artwork, patronage and prayers to potential retail customers and wholesalers.

"Each piece I work on takes contemplation and visualization to create a representation of the particular Saint that offers the visual and spiritual essence I strive for," says Lynn Garlick, owner of the business. "I don't settle for less. Each retablo in my collection is intended to offer blessings, reassurance and solace, and it takes a certain time and space to create that. These new additions to our collection are both unique in themselves, and also enhance our collection as a whole - which offers an ever greater choice for most everyone's individual concerns, needs or prayers."

Lynn Garlick Retablos is pleased to announce that the business, now in its 26th year, has again expanded during the last fiscal period - approximately 15%. Due to increased sign ups of wholesale accounts, a growing retail business and consistent repeat business from long time vendors, the business continues to expand both numerically with the number of retailers we supply, and the income we realize from both our established and new relationships.

Lynn Garlick, owner of the business comments, "The business continues to exhibit growth and profitability - even with the new expenses of additional employees, moving into a new office / production facility, and higher material costs. I credit it to the continued sales success of our vendors, who continually reorder. They are our main focus, and we strive to support them however best we can."

• Lynn Garlick Retablos / An Original Retablo
This Lynn Garlick Original, hand painted and carved retablo of "Our Lady Undoer of Knots" 42 x 20 x 2, will be available for viewing at market. It is also available in our production line in 4 sizes. Sizes Price range is from $2.65 - $13.50...

• The idea for Mary Undoer of Knots originated with German Baroque artist, Schmidner in the 1600s. The origin of his idea is from the second century work of St. Irenaeus who speaks of Eve and Mary, "The knots of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the Virgin Mary set free in Faith." Mary is shown as the Queen of Heaven, a crown of twelve stars surround her head with the Holy Spirit as the Dove above her, the angels are passing the knots of the sins of humanity to her as she stands on a knotted serpent and a new moon. '....a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: Rev12:1. This information and the prayer below are engraved on the back of all the prodution peices.
Holy Mother, undoer of knots, may the unknotted cords of your wisdom free me from the knotted confusions of my mind, so that I am rendered harmless and move in the world with clarity of mind and kindness of heart.

• Lynn Garlick Retablos / Displays
Displays 24P
The 24 pocket box house our very popular pocket saints. Includes 4 each of 24 assorted best Saints. The cost filled is $254.40 + $25 (Box) = $279.40 + 4 Extra free Saints to offset box cost.
14" W x 17.75" H x 8” D with stand

...

• This wonderful display is one of many that house our 4 sizes of saints. The boxes are made out of wood by a local woodworker. We hand paint each display and engrave the name and patronage of the saint on a bar below each saint. We encourage buyers to order the displays because we know how they boost sales. People look and see a saint, for example, of the patron saint of Grandmothers or Nurses and immediately think of someone to give it to. For the retail price of $5.30 a pocket saint, keystone, they fly out the door (no pun intended) in multiples. The boxes have stands that allow them to be used on the counter or hung on the wall.
• Lynn Garlick Retablos / Gertrude of Nevilles

• I had been creating my larger retablos for 15 years when the idea for my pocket saints came about. I was flying to Japan about 12 years ago. Not liking flying, I made up a travel pack of these mini retablos for protection. The pocket saints are affordable, with meaningful blessings for anyone. The are one of my best sellers.

Gerturde of Nevilles (621 - 659) Feast Day: March 17. Patronage: cats, gardeners, against mice.
She founded 2 monasteries and built churches and hospices for travelers. She became abbess of the monasteries and was known for her generosity and compassion. At 30 Gertrude decided to devote her time to prayer and contemplation and relinquished her role as abbess. She is often depicted with mice running up her staff. They are said to be the souls in Purgatory rising up into Heaven.
“St. Gertrude, full of compassion and generosity,
help watch over my cat,
a joyful blessing from the great creator.
May she be healthy, happy and safe in all her adventures.”

San Francisco de Asis, like all our saints, is available in our ornament size. Made on a baltic birch ply the ornaments are 2.5” w x 5.5” h (this varies by images) x 1/8” d - $6.50 (wholesale each).

...

• San Francisco de Asis is the patron saint of Animals, Children, Kindness and Ecology. He was born in 1181 and died in 1226 AD. He was the son of a weathly cloth merchant, but renounced his family fortune and threw off his clothes and started the Franciscan Order. He laid down the strict rules of poverty, humility and discipline. In 1224 while praying, he received the stigmata.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love, where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair, hope, where there is darkness, light, where there is sadness, joy. O divine master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, for it is giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born into eternal life."

• Lynn Garlick Retablos / San Pasqual Retablo
San Pasqual - Patron Saint of Cooks
This is our largest size. It is on a pine board with the name, patronage, story and prayer printed on the back. It is ready to hang on a wall or sit on an alter. 5.5” w x 10.5” h x 3/4” d - $13.50 (wholesale each).
...

• San Pasqual is the patron saint of cooks. This image is one of the first retablos I ever painted. He has been one of my 3 best sellers in the larger size since then. Most everyone cooks and likes to have a food blessing. San Paqual was born in Spain of peasant parents. He became a lay brother in a Franciscan order. He was a mystic and a contemplative who had many visions. Considered to be a simple man of great humility, he was said to have worked in the kitchen. Stories abound of his kitchen duties being miraculously taken care of because his devotion was so great. His empty baskets would be miraculously filled so he could feed the poor.
“I joyfully celebrate the food I am given. May it deeply nourish everyone I feed."
